The Harry Potter fandom was different before the movies came out. There was a unique stretch of time between 1997 and 2001 where nobody, and I mean nobody, knew how to pronounce Hermione's name. In hindsight, it's kind of difficult to believe that so few kids asked their parents how to pronounce the name of a main character from their favorite book series. She's a Shakespearean character, for crying out loud!

The movies and the books have become so intertwined throughout the years it's hard to imagine a time when there was no official look of Hogwarts. The iconic locations of the series only existed in illustrations and in the minds of the readers. In hindsight, it's miraculous that the production design of the movies captured the spirit of the books so brilliantly.
